Book vs. Clouds

A beautiful day for a nap,
the pause that says later
to the world, yes to the self
which, for now, is a new book
and a bay window’s slow reveal
of far-ranging clouds, a flock
of cumuli hurried only by what
the wind might wish, at times
a seeming stillness feeding
on the moisture they become—
ephemeral delight luring the eyes,
a relinquished grip of hands
as pages slide away,
still weighted with voice and tale.
