An Evening of Poetry: Rebecca Brock & Hayley Mitchell Haugen & Friends– Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, 7pm Eastern

Join us in celebrating the release of new Kelsay Books chapbooks from Rebecca Brock and Hayley Mitchell Haugen! Brock and Haugen will be accompanied by open mic readers from Sheila-Na-Gig online’s Fall 2022 issue. Zoom registration required — see below.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2022 — 7PM EASTERN

Rebecca Brock’s work can be found in CALYX, The Comstock Review, Mom Egg Review, Pirene’s Fountain, Sky Island Journal Whale Road Review, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from Bennington College. Recently, she won the Editor’s Choice Award at Sheila-Na-Gig, was a finalist in the 2021 Joy Harjo Poetry Prize at Cutthroat, A Journal for the Arts and a semifinalist in the 2021 New Women’s Voices contest at Finishing Line Press. Her poetry has been nominated for The Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. Her nonfiction essay about being a working flight attendant on 9/11 was published in The Threepenny Review and earned a Pushcart Honorable Mention. Idaho born, she has lived temporarily in Virginia for more than twenty years and still isn’t used to the humidity. She has been a flight attendant for most of her adult life and is still surprised by this fact. She is mother to two boys and finds parenthood to be a perplexing, sometimes terribly beautiful, gamble of her heart. You can find more of her work at RebeccaBrock.org.

Hayley Mitchell Haugen holds a Ph.D. in 20th Century American Literature from Ohio University and an MFA in poetry from the University of Washington. She is currently Professor of English at Ohio University Southern, where she teaches courses in composition, American literature, and creative writing. Her chapbook What the Grimm Girl Looks Forward To appears from Finishing Line Press (2016), and poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Rattle, Slant, Spillway, Chiron Review, Verse Virtual, and many other journals. Light & Shadow, Shadow & Light from Main Street Rag Publishing Company (2018) is her first full-length collection. She edits Sheila-Na-Gig online and Sheila-Na-Gig Editions.
