Quick Glance at Eurydice

Stains, again, on things that easily stain,
the uniform kinds of stains, all one, all same
but for the histories of each, the blame,
the blamelessness of ancient times,
of yesterdays just past where every pain
is simple fact and simple blame, where
time is only galleries of fame, and glances
over shoulders, outlawed, have siren-calls
towards a simple fall, a spell that’s cast
on all that came before; nothing truly lasts
at all, and time makes ribbons of the past.
