Conscience

I am that raven
shadow klaw-
klawking over
your shoulder,

that dried tea
bag in an empty
mug, cool
to the touch.

That itch
to walk on two
strong legs
in speakeasy sun,

the whoosh
and swish of baby
waves on high
tide gravel.

I am your maybe,
what if, what if I
don’t.
