Vigil
Sitting with those
who will soon walk off
the earth
and face the deep
of colder things
is to be crestfallen
yet zinced from pity.
It is love that stays
near talking bonesβ
a citizen of secrets
holding trussed hopes
for a better,
truer kingdom. A place
first walkers
will stand watchful at
to ask our purpose when we enter.
