What Lakes Do

Sooner or later
you must make
a decision,
even if the decision
is to make
no decision,
just keep swimming
like that coot
paddling by,
head bobbing,
the wake it leaves
a narrow v
that widens into
corrugated ripples
blending into
no-bird ripples,
the lake doing
what lakes do.
