Neocona Crucifera

She poses in full red-spotted splendor
neocona crucifera, orb weaver,
her black eyes meeting mine.

O many-legged beauty,
are you watching me watch you?

Back Deck, Morning

On the lattice ceiling
dew drops cling
to nail heads strung
like lightning bugs
as if to catch
the morning sun.
With a glint of magic
the day has begun.
