Mount Etna
Mount Etna, we tremble at your power
Molten lava melds weapons in your womb
Mortal years brief in your life’s long hour
Hephaestus swings his hammer, his fire blooms
Serpent cries do not harm your Sicily
Molten lava melds weapons in your womb
Carnations grow in your soil visibly
Ash dances in the wind as we weave crowns
Serpent cries do not harm your Sicily
Luscious blood orange sprouts new from your grounds
Mount Etna, you are our Mother-Warrior
Ash dances in the wind as we weave crowns
Poseidon yearns to be your courtier
Tidal waves cannot drown your lasting flame
Mount Etna, you are our Mother-Warrior
Empires lose their name, but you remain
Mount Etna, we tremble at your power
Tidal waves cannot drown your lasting flame
Mortal years brief in your life’s long hour
