Winter in Montreal
Window dreaming through lace,
the snowflakes, large and brash
totally themselves until ground fall.
A cold and endless welcoming
There is something about winter
storms, the day leaving you
to your own deep drifts
awake but not fully
of the world, and all the edges
softening into something other
And afterwards, the wind lost
in stillness, the first walk
into late afternoon, your breath
against snow- glisten
the moon takes its place
in the thin broth of sky.
